ABOUT TRU YARDIE WARRIORZ

‘We a warrior, tru yardie!’ That is the statement that started it all. To some it may carry little meaning. To others it might be perceived as ‘we are true yardie warriorz.’ This is one way of looking at it. The phrase has a second meaning, which was the real reason we adopted the phrase to represent us. The person who first voiced it had issues enunciating the word ‘through.’ He simply meant ‘ we are warriorz through yardie’

When this phrase is dismantled, every word can hold its own. When the letter ‘E’ is added to ‘Tru” is means conforming to reality or fact. When pronounced right, through that is, it means by way of. So both ways it holds Tru to our cause.

'Yardie,' originated from Jamaica’s Trenchtown tenement yards. The projects were built around a central courtyard with communal cooking facilities. That is where the term yardie was coined. As time went by and the term crossed borders, people especially reggae lovers in ‘foreign’ slowly turned the term to mean ‘back a yard’ simply referring to back home. Home for them was either the Caribbean or Mama Africa

A warrior, the ‘z’ is optional, is anyone who is engaged aggressively or energetically in an activity, cause or conflict.

So a Tru Yardie Warrior is a person who aggressively engages in conforming to African or Caribbean ways. In our case we are dealing with fashion. Tru Yardie Warriorz attire is totally dedicated to Rasta and Africa themes. The messages we wear, the colors we show and the artwork we embrace is not just influenced by Africa and The Caribbean but by everyday living of all descendants of the Motherland.

We do not blend tradition and modern fashion; we set the trend with Yardie themes. The strong culture of the black man can never be eroded or diluted and will always stand out amongst the watered down, commercialized themes. With our colors comes meaning. Red, stands for the blood we shed in the struggles we have been ‘Tru’, gold is for our rich culture, green stands for our fertility and black is who we are. Our messages are from the greatest who lived, the greatest alive and some of our messages are awaiting the future messengers to deliver them.

To add to this, the quality of our products rules the market. Our goal is to provide the highest quality products in the market. Our artwork is incontestably the best Africa and Rasta themed out there, quality in our products is right on the heels of our artwork. We will always keep on climbing even when we reach the top of the mountain. There is no limit to being the best, until you beat your best effort there is room for improvement.
